Tinebacks have highly-developed olfactory capabilities. They feed primarily on juvenile irewings, being attracted by the unique scent of the creatures, and can leap an impressive distance into the air in pursuit of their prey.

They are also known to hunt dewbacks, presumably due to their nutrient-rich meat, but only the strongest and fastest Tinebacks are successful in this pursuit.

Capture of Tinebacks has proven difficult for the uninitiated. They are clever beasts that find their way into any structure in search of easy food sources. Electrified durasteel net traps in conjunction with high-dose tranquilizers are the most effective tools for managing the beasts.

Such traps have been ordered in bulk by allied forces in an attempt to keep the beasts under control. Locally, Ash'ad Beastmasters often carry powerful tranquilizer weapons.

Ruhnukan Tinebacks make their nests near water sources, preferring locations with plentiful but shallow running water. The Waterworks on Ruhnuk is a favorite nesting site."
