Geothermal Disruption
"Droids from the ship have engineered a zone of extreme heat for creatures and plants that favor this environment. This area of the crash site--perhaps the most dangerous of them all--is wreaking catastrophic damage to the environment and its native flora and fauna.
The droids are executing a shockingly rapid excavation on a massive scale, drilling to extreme depths, tapping into naturally-occurring magma flows, and drawing them to the surface. Worse, the droid's hastily-constructed drilling equipment is generating toxic runoff that could poison the environment here for generations to come. Even worse--some of my team's researchers refuse to enter the area unless we make significant upgrades to safety protocols. I need to find some mercenaries we can send in there...."
