Blba Tree

The sturdy blba tree flourishes throughout Dantooine's fertile grasslands. They can grow for hundreds of years, and particularly venerable trees have served as wedding sites for generation after generation of family lineages. Dantooinians regard them as apt symbols for the planet's inhabitants: they're hardy, require little to thrive, and are incredibly difficult to move once their roots take.

Banir Regional Energy Complex

The Republic's renewed interest in Dantooine led to heavy investment in the planet's aging infrastructure. The crumbling dam near Tokare Garrison was transformed by Republic engineers into a high-tech energy complex. This combination wind and hydroelectric facility is capable of producing the enormous amounts of power needed by the Republic's industrialized farming initiative.

Despite the benefits of the Republic's attention to the planet--improved defenses and infrastructure, and a revitalized economy--some of Dantooine's old guard decry the rapid development and caution their fellow citizens against relying too heavily on the Republic's support.

Dantooine Agriculture

Dantooine is a pastoral planet populated by resilient farmers. For much of their history, Dantooine's inhabitants focused primarily on sustenance, carting what little excess they produced to the planet's few mercantile centers on the rare occasion off-world traders arrived.

Staple crops include kibla greens and yot beans, though the Republic has been pushing for the cultivation of faster-cycle non-native species to support increasing supply needs. The planet, once deemed beneath notice by both sides of the conflict, now serves as an integral link in the Republic's supply chain.

"Droids from the ship have engineered a zone of extreme heat for creatures and plants that favor this environment. This area of the crash site--perhaps the most dangerous of them all--is wreaking catastrophic damage to the environment and its native flora and fauna.

The droids are executing a shockingly rapid excavation on a massive scale, drilling to extreme depths, tapping into naturally-occurring magma flows, and drawing them to the surface. Worse, the droid's hastily-constructed drilling equipment is generating toxic runoff that could poison the environment here for generations to come. Even worse--some of my team's researchers refuse to enter the area unless we make significant upgrades to safety protocols. I need to find some mercenaries we can send in there...."

"One of the areas adjacent to the Jannimak wreckage has been infested with a rare flora that possesses astounding thermal dampening properties. As they grow, they propagate frost, causing severe temperature collapse--a stark contrast to the rest of Dantooine's widely-temperate climate.

The effect is exacerbated by machinery built to amplify these conditions and energize the cold-dwelling creatures that survived the crash. As a result, the aggressive promulgation of this local climate change is causing severe damage to the native flora and fauna. More importantly, it's making it difficult for us to collect samples of those fascinating thermal-suppressing plants!"

Imperial Outpost DNT-X004

The barebones Imperial base on Dantooine embodies their mission on the planet: accomplish as much as possible with practically no resources. Sneaking in under the cover of the Nova Blades' attack, a small strike force hurried to establish a recon base in a strategic location near the Banir Regional Energy Complex. This location proved a perfect launchpad for strikes on the Republic's infrastructure. Despite operating with the bare minimum of staff and materiel, the effort has been deemed successful thus far.

Sporefall

"The area we have designated "Sporefall" is perhaps the most fascinating of the three emerging ecosystems. The Jannimak is discharging large volumes of an unclassified spore, to remarkable effect. The spores themselves mutate and multiply at a rapid pace, but what's even more remarkable is the incredible--and incredibly rapid--growth they spark in the native flora!

I, and other team members, are extremely excited by the spores' possible benefits to bioscience research. Unfortunately, my researchers' sampling and containment efforts have been hindered by the effects--sleepiness, nausea, disorientation--of prolonged exposure to the area. Not ideal when the spores also trigger aggressive behavior in the native animals. I've encouraged the teams to power through--imagine the use cases if we could harvest and control that biotechnology!"
