Darth Nul's Laboratory

"Darth Nul Temple Recovery, Elom, Entry 0032: After weeks of painstaking work to ensure minimal damage, the excavation team has finally breached the entrance to Darth Nul's temple. The dig to simply gain access to the temple itself was arduous, as a great deal of interference from an unknown source hindered the team's ground-penetrating scanners, slowing work to a crawl at times. Could this interference be caused by some machine Nul herself designed and built? The temple's security systems? Maybe some exotic artificial alloy she created? My anticipation at what we may find once we're inside grows by the minute!

Darth Nul Temple Recovery, Elom, Entry 0051: Our recovery efforts have brought us into the heart of the ruins! No sign of Darth Nul's library or main laboratory thus far, but we've found an elegant meditation room, as well as repair bays and fabrication chambers. That these were used to maintain a variety of different kinds of droids and automated weapons systems is indisputable. Even more exciting is the evidence of work on advanced cybernetics, particularly the direct mind-interfacing neural taps.

On a somewhat demoralizing note, some of the recovery team are concerned by energy fields we've detected deeper within the structure. I'm excited by the prospect of finding operational equipment that Nul herself may have used, but the team is worried that we'll find still-functioning security systems."

Malgus' Escape

"The methodology of Malgus's escape is, unfortunately, very simple, but it remains unknown at this time whether Malgus himself was involved in its planning or had any prior knowledge that Shae Vizla would free him. Despite various conjectures, there is no definitive evidence to support any of them as of this report.

Pressure from Alliance stakeholders forced this investigation to focus an inordinate amount of time and resources on the question of whether or not Vizla's Tra'tade--coalition of Mandalorian clans--or any of her close associates were aware that she was going to free Malgus. Nothing suggests that they did, and ample evidence conclusively proves that most did not or could not have known--not that this investigator expects this report to bring an end to the finger-pointing.

Reactions have been of consistent anger and surprise, with some additional variation. The Republic Strategic Information Service and Sith Intelligence continue to assign the blame of failing to anticipate Vizla's actions on each other. The Sith Sphere of Military Command has taken advantage of the situation, regaining authority within the Empire that it had lost to the Sphere of Galactic Influence as a result of Alliance politics. Republic High Command, perpetually stretched thin across Republic zones of influence, cannot reach consensus on how the military should prepare for Malgus's next move without further intelligence on his and Vizla's whereabouts and intentions.

The final conclusion of this report, and perhaps the most frightening, is that this investigation has been entirely unable to determine Shae Vizla's motivations for freeing Malgus or what either of them intends to do next. Until credible intelligence can resolve those mysteries, the Alliance and its associates will remain fraught with suspicion, which itself could be part of Malgus's plans, whatever they may be."

Jemala Ha'rangir and Ora Nem

Serving the Hidden Chain, Jemala Ha'rangir led a team responsible for capturing those whose latent Force sensitivity had been activated by a machine based on the designs of the ancient Sith, Darth Nul. These missions, and their focus on non-Mandalorian Force sensitives, troubled Jemala, who soon began to have doubts about her clan's decision to throw in with Heta Kol.

Jemala's concerns only grew after she met Ora Nem, a Force-sensitive target seized by Jemala's team. An artisan from Tatooine, Ora had never left her home planet before being captured by the Hidden Chain. Jemala felt pity for Ora, who was obviously less worldly and more frightened than their other prisoners, and tried to reassure her to the extent that she could. For her part, Ora found all the Mandalorians indifferent and cruel, except for Jemala.

When Jemala's crew learned that the prison ship they were bound for had been destroyed, they followed their leadership's directive to maintain their position and await further orders.

Disillusioned with the Hidden Chain, Jemala began to plot an escape with Ora. Taking advantage of her team's anxiety in the wake of the destruction of the prison ship, Jemala turned on her shipmates, and forcibly landed their ship back on Tatooine. With Ora's help, Jemala freed the other prisoners and fled into the desert.

Raal's Regulators

A former member of the InterStellar Regulators, Sanlo Raal served in the personal cadre of one of the officers who was bribed by the Hutt Cartel to betray Makeb. On his orders, Sanlo stood down during the assault on the Regulators who remained loyal to Makeb, but she couldn't stand it when holo footage of the one-sided battle came in. With a handful of Regulators who were loyal to her, Sanlo commandeered a Hutt Cartel transport, rescued a small number of Regulators under fire from Cartel forces, and fled the system.

While trying to decide where to go next, Sanlo's commanding officer reached out to her. He offered to conceal Sanlo's actions from the Hutt Cartel if she would assassinate a member of the Exchange to whom he owed a massive gambling debt. Sanlo reluctantly agreed, and after concluding that operation, she named her group of fugitives "Raal's Regulators" and set up their base of operations on Nar Shaddaa.

Taking advantage of her clean reputation with the Hutts, Raal's Regulators performed numerous missions for the Cartel and their allies, including protecting smuggling routes, recovering Hutt property, and hunting down fugitives wanted by the Cartel. It was in this capacity that Sanlo's small mercenary company first came to the attention of Field Marshal Heta Kol.

As Heta first began to aggressively expand the Hidden Chain, she used Sanlo Raal and her connections to transport goods from Hidden Chain raids to sell them on the black market. Heta later dispatched Raal's Regulators to track down and capture Force sensitive individuals who were then forcefully conscripted into the Hidden Chain.

Hidden Chain Fleet Ship

While setting up their base of operations on Ruhnuk, Heta Kol and the Hidden Chain seized several large Leviathan-class transports that had been purpose-built by Rendili Hyperworks for transporting mining equipment, workers, and supplies to the Wild Space world of Ruhnuk, and transporting ore back out. To weather the constant ionic storm surrounding the planet, these sturdy, reliable ships featured hardened electrical systems, and were easy to repair or modify.

The Hidden Chain modified the transports they seized with more responsive flight controls, mounted turbolasers for combat, expanded the shuttle bay, and converted approximately half the cargo space for troop compartments and weapon control systems. The ships' large engines also enabled the Hidden Chain to add additional heavy armoring.

At least one of these ships was further modified to convert storage space into a large prisoner hold with reinforced cages and built-in prisoner stunners for holding and controlling powerful individuals.

The Mercenary's Honor

The Mercenary's Honor, often referred to by its crew as simply "The Honor," was a XR Light Transport manufactured by Corellian Engineering Corporation and purchased by mercenary commander Sanlo Raal. Raal modified the ship for use as a mobile troop carrier and field base by converting most of the cargo space to troop compartments, adding additional weapons and communications systems, and enhancing the deflector shielding.

The Whisper

Shae Vizla's stealth shuttle, The Whisper, was a IL-5 Ocula scout starfighter. Built by the Czerka Corporation, it was later purchased by the Hutt Cartel and modified with a variable transponder code system, modest stealth capabilities, and an advanced secure communications array. These upgrades, combined with its small size, made it ideal for transporting messages, small contraband, or persons of interest outside of the Hutts' normal smuggling operations.

Mandalore the Avenger seized the ship after her forces detected it running a smuggling operation in Mandalorian space. Her technicians further modified it with improved scanners and upgrades to the ship's stealth systems.

Scorpion-class Intercept Shuttle

A flexible and reliable craft with light armaments, the Scorpion-class Intercept Shuttle's variable wing configurations enabled it to fly quickly and with great maneuverability in-atmosphere as needed. Designed to transport a standard 12-person armored squad with weapons and equipment along with a pilot and navigator flight crew, Mandalorians could drop down the ladder in vertical mode and quickly exit using their jetpacks.

Heta Kol gained possession of several Scorpions from Clan Varad, who had previously stationed them at their secret bases throughout the Tamarin sector after taking them by force from the Cindev shipyards. The Hidden Chain then used as part of their own military operations.
